We eat to live and live to eat.  Our obsession with food is unending. Aside from seeing famous attractions one of our main reasons why we love to travel is to experience local dishes.

Food Menu

Must TRY @ HillStreet Coffee Shop.

1. LAKSA

We ordered Hill Street’s version of the Malay traditional dish, Laksa. Laksa is a must-try for diners seeking for a taste of local Singaporean-style meal! Its taste didn’t disappoint our taste buds. It is delicious and flavourful.

Laksa consists of rice noodles or rice vermicelli with chicken, prawn or fish, served in spicy soup based on either rich and spicy curry coconut milk or on sour asam.

2. FRIED HOKKIEN MEE

Another favourite of every local in Singapore is Fried Hokkien Mee.  It was served piping hot and ingredients are fresh. Both thick and thin bee hoon (rice vermicelli) was used for a varied slurpyness to the noodly goodness of the noodles. Tasteful.

Fried Hokkien Mee, literally translates to mean noodles, fried Fujian style. Fujian (Hokkien) is a province in Southern China. Most of the Chinese residing in Malaysia and Singapore have roots originating from the Fujian Province.

3. MINCED PORK NOODLE

We ordered Mince Pork Noodle because we wanted something plain and familiar taste  but we didn’t know that Minced Pork Noodle is often hailed as the unsung hero of Singapore’s hawker food scene. It’s the dish-to-go in Singapore.

The origins of this dish can be traced back to early immigrants from the province of Teochew. Bak Chor Mee is as uniquely Singaporean as it gets since it is not readily available anywhere else in the world (unlike Chicken Rice and Chilli Crab).

No meal is complete without a good drink.

Iced Gula Melaka Coffee – The taste is really strong but delicious.
